We are excited to announce that we have established a small herd of Heritage Texas Longhorns. We are looking forward to doing our part in the conservation of the Heritage Texas Longhorn, the closest genetic link to the original Texas Longhorns.
We are excited to announce the formation of The Heritage Longhorn Alliance. We have partnered with our dear friends, the Wotherspoons in this adventure. I have always had a love for the iconic and historic Texas Longhorn breed ever since I was a child. I have been raising Longhorns since 1980. Over the years I have seen the breed change. That change has more to with eye appeal and producing the most tip to tip horn measurements than functionality. With this race to produce the largest tip to tip measurements we have seen a decrease in the other great functional traits that helped the Longhorn survive. I feel it is very important to preserve the Heritage Texas Longhorn, not only for it's historic value but also for their genetic value. These cattle have been DNA tested and visually inspected to insure purity. They are the closest and most direct genetic link to the original Texas Longhorn. Our goal is to produce quality Heritage Texas Longhorns to add to their declining population numbers. We will be using AI and Embryo Transfer as a way to grow our herd as well as adding some genetic diversity by introducing older Heritage genetics back into the gene pool to create the next generation of Heritage Texas Longhorns.

This beautiful twist horn cow will be our foundation donor cow at the age of 16yrs. She as produced several very nice herd sires and daughter over the years. Her pedigree is no less than 5/8th Yates bloodline which is one of the original bloodlines. She will be flushed to several different bulls. We will implant a few of the embryos and bank the rest to implant at a later date. To be registered with the CTLR cattle must have Conservation UC Davis DNA test scored of at least 80% .
